They bring out Ryan Reynolds to do an introduction to the first Best Picture nominee, The Blind Side. I suppose he is a fitting choice since he did that Betty White movie with Sandra Bullock.
The beauty of the DVR is that I can fast forward through the boring parts. I did let the commercials play during the first break. Great Jimmy Kimmel live commercial with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. Google it!
BEST ANIMATED FEATURE
They have some characters from the films doing some bits about being nominated. When The Fantastic Mr. Fox speaks I immediately recognize that Clooney voiced him. That man is all over the place tonight. Clooney, that is. Two nominated movies, and his Best Actor award. Oh, and looking annoyed when the camera is on him. The winner is Up! It should have won. Spectacular movie. Rent it.
Baldwin and Martin are out again. A joke about the Hangover! Yes! And they just noted that the two upcoming presenters, Miley Cyrus and Amanda Seyfried, don’t know who they are! So true. Ummm, Miley, did Daddy approve that dress? You shouldn’t be drawing attention to your girls at that age.
BEST SONG for a MOTION PICTURE
I am still bitter that “Stu’s Song” from The Hangover was not nominated. It was a brilliant piece within the movie and set the tone for the third act of the film. Also, it was pretty fucking funny. None of these nominated songs seem funny. Oh, some song from Crazy Heart won. Look how much I care.
